Established in August 2014, the International Standard Dance program at Zhengzhou Shengda University offers three academic levels: undergraduate Dance Performance (International Standard Dance), junior-college International Standard Dance, and college-to-university transfer for Dance Performance, with 439 enrolled students at present. Since its founding, the program has achieved remarkable accomplishments and assembled a high-caliber teaching team with national influence. In October 2019, the Sports Dance Teaching and Research Section was awarded the title of “Excellent Grass-roots Teaching Organization of Institutions of Higher Learning in Henan Province” by the Henan Provincial Department of Education. Thanks to rigorous classroom instruction and persistent intensive training, the program has attained outstanding results, ranking among the top of its kind among higher-education institutions in Henan Province in comprehensive strength.
Our International Standard Dance program won the Overall Group First Prize at the China University Sports Dance (Ballroom Dance) Championship for three consecutive years in 2024, 2025 and 2026. At the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th Henan Provincial Student Sports Dance Championships hosted by the Henan Provincial Department of Education, the university’s sports dance delegation claimed the Overall Group First Prize for university groups on six occasions.
The program boasts a strong teaching faculty consisting of 4 professors, 5 lecturers and 5 teaching assistants. The teaching staff are experienced in classroom teaching and scientific research, including 1 Excellent Teacher of Henan Provincial Education System, 8 national champions of International Standard Dance, 5 CBDF international-level adjudicators and 8 dual-qualified teachers. The program is equipped with first-class domestic teaching venues and facilities. There are 7 standardized International Standard Dance classrooms covering a total area of 3,000 square meters. The spacious and bright classrooms are fully furnished with multimedia devices, multi-functional lighting, high-end imported audio systems and premium wooden floors. The favorable teaching conditions provide solid support for the program’s development.
This program aims to foster high-quality applied talents who meet the demands of regional economic and social development and achieve all-round development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness and aesthetics. Graduates shall master basic theories and knowledge of International Standard Dance, and possess core competencies in International Standard Dance teaching, choreography, performance and administration. They are qualified for positions such as sports dance teaching in primary and secondary schools, teaching and administration in dance training institutions, and relevant posts in cultural and art-related enterprises and public institutions.
Seven students from the International Standard Dance program, including Lu Bingqing, Lin Yifan and Gao Xuyao, have received the National Scholarship granted by the Ministry of Education. In recent years, 43 graduates of this program have been admitted to postgraduate programs at Capital University of Physical Education and Sports, Xi’an Physical Education University, Tianjin University of Sport, Shandong Sport University, Zhengzhou University, Henan University and other institutions. Seven graduates work as university teachers, over 50 serve in primary and secondary schools, and more than 30 have founded their own dance training institutions. Some alumni are employed in enterprises and public institutions such as courts, procuratorates, banks and sub-district offices.
Established in August 2014 at Zhengzhou Shengda University, the Social Sports Guidance and Management program offers three academic levels: undergraduate Social Sports Guidance and Management, junior-college Social Sports, and college-to-university transfer for Social Sports Guidance and Management.
Upholding the Party’s educational policy and the original aspiration of fostering talent for the Party and the nation, the program is rooted in Zhengzhou, serves Henan Province and radiates across the whole country. Responding to the Healthy China Strategy and regional economic-social development needs in the new era, it targets the cultivation of talents with all-round development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor education. The teaching team of the Social Sports Teaching and Research Section features a rational structure of professional titles and academic degrees, including 2 professors, 6 associate professors (53.3% senior-title teachers), 1 PhD holder and 5 PhD candidates (40% of faculty), 1 International Master of Sports-level athlete and 2 National First-Class Athletes. As a united elite teaching team of mixed age groups, it delivers outstanding performance in theoretical research, scientific research, teaching and competition guidance.
After ten years of development and accumulation, the program has achieved fruitful results. In the 2020 Henan Provincial University Teaching Quality Evaluation, it ranked 5th in Henan Province. Altogether 51 graduates have been admitted to postgraduate studies, with an average postgraduate admission rate of 15.2%.
1. In May 2021, the women’s football team of the program won the championship at the Huaguang Cup Women’s Football Tournament of Henan Province, and claimed the runner-up in the Women’s Group B of Henan Provincial 5-a-Side Football Competition in 2023.
2. In June 2021, the women’s team took the championship of China University 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament (Women’s Division).
3. In 2023, participants swept the top 5 places in the national female division and top 2 places in the national male division of the China University Healthy Campus Competition & AI Fitness Contest. The university was awarded the First Prize of the China University Healthy Campus Competition.
4. In 2023, students won 2nd prize for original works in University Group A and 2nd prize for optional works in University Group B at the 3rd National Campus Line-Dance Exhibition Competition. In November of the same year, the university obtained the title of “Sunshine Line-Dance Star-level Characteristic School” for 2023.
5. In 2023, at the 15th Henan Provincial Orienteering Championships, students won 1st place in the W21A Middle-Distance Relay Race and 3rd place in the W21A Sprint Individual Event.
6. In 2023, students got the 3rd prize at the Aerobics & Cheerleading Competition for Student Groups of the 14th Henan Provincial Games (the 10th Henan Provincial Student Aerobics & Cheerleading Competition).
7. In 2025, at the 19th National University Fitness and Bodybuilding Championships, students won first places in Collegiate Classic Bodybuilding 70 kg Group C and Collegiate Fitness Model Group A; second places in Collegiate Mr. Fitness (under 175 cm) Group A and Collegiate Fitness Model Group B-A; third place in Collegiate Classic Bodybuilding 75 kg Group C; and fourth place in Collegiate Fitness Model Group A-A.
8. In May 2025, students earned three third-place awards at the 19th Henan Provincial Student Table-Tennis Competition (University Division).
9. In June 2025, at the 23rd Henan Provincial Fitness & Bodybuilding Championships and the 16th Henan Provincial University Fitness & Bodybuilding Open Tournament, students gained 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 1 bronze medal, two 4th-place finishes and one 5th-place finish, and the team took 2nd place in overall team standings.
10. In June 2025, at the 5th National Campus Line-Dance Exhibition Competition, students won four First Prizes for Group B-A Open Event, Group B-B Open Event, Group B-A Medley Event and Group B-A Optional Stage-style Event, together with the national “Excellent Promotion Award”.
11. In September 2025, at the National Community Line-Dance Games, students obtained four First Prizes and two Third Prizes in multiple show and campus break-exercise categories.
12. In October 2025, the team won 3rd prize in the Fitness Team Physical-Fitness Vocational Group at the Henan Provincial Sports Industry Vocational Skills Competition.
13. In November 2025, students took 2nd place in Sprint Orienteering and five 5th-place awards in short-distance relay races at the Henan Provincial Orienteering and Radio Direction-Finding Championships.
Closely following new trends in social sports development, the program has built a complete curriculum system responding to the strategies of Building a Powerful Sports Nation and Healthy China. The curriculum covers knowledge and competence requirements for social development and forms a sound framework for cultivating high-quality applied sports talents. Deep university-enterprise integration has established a well-structured practical teaching system with favorable conditions, laying a solid foundation for talent cultivation.
This program is committed to cultivating high-quality applied sports talents who meet regional economic and social development needs and achieve all-round development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor education. Graduates shall possess high scientific and cultural literacy, strong social responsibility, sound personality, innovative spirit, entrepreneurial awareness, international vision and scientific literacy. They will systematically master basic theories, knowledge and skills of social sports guidance and management, and be competent for fitness consultation and guidance, sports technical instruction, event organization and planning, sports business administration and sports industry operation. Graduates are expected to engage in social sports-related work and promote social progress and cultural development, featuring solid theoretical foundation, proficient practical skills, strong instructional awareness and competent management capacity.
Through ten-year construction, 51 students have been admitted to postgraduate programs with an average postgraduate admission rate of 15.2%. Graduates take up posts in social sports administration, fitness clubs, sports enterprises and public institutions across the country.
