The Faculty of Foreign Languages is one of the earliest faculties founded in 1994 at Zhengzhou Shengda University. Adhering to the educational philosophy of "cultivating virtue and nurturing talent", the faculty is committed to fostering interdisciplinary "foreign language+" professionals with cross-disciplinary competencies.
The faculty offers four undergraduate programs: English, Business English, Translation, and Japanese. Notable achievements in discipline development include:
· In 2017, the English program was recognized as a Henan Provincial Brand Specialty for Private Higher Education Institutions.
· In 2021, the English program secured funding under the Henan Provincial Discipline Development Support Program for Private Universities. The year 2021 also witnessed the approval of the Translation program as a Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) Professional Degree Cultivation Unit.
The faculty boasts a strong teaching team of 173 full-time members, among whom are 10 professors and 81 associate professors, with senior professional titles accounting for 52.6% of the teaching staff.
· Educational Background: 21 hold doctoral degrees and 135 master’s degrees, with 90.1% possessing graduate-level qualifications.
· Global Experience: 45 faculty members have overseas study or research experience.
· Dual Qualifications: 24 are certified as dual-qualified teachers (combining academic expertise and industry practice).
Over the past three years, the faculty has:
· Completed 79 provincial/ministerial-level teaching and research projects, including 5 provincial pedagogical reform initiatives.
· Won 27 national and provincial teaching skill awards.
· Developed a robust curriculum system featuring:
· 1 national first-class course
· 6 provincial first-class undergraduate courses
· 1 provincial ideology and politics model course
· 1 provincial research-oriented demonstration course
· 9 university-level ideology and politics model courses
For over three decades, the faculty has cultivated more than 10,000 foreign language professionals. Many graduates earned acclaim from their employers. Key metrics include:
· Graduate employment rates consistently ranking among the highest in the university.
· Graduate admission rate for postgraduate studies stabilizing at around 15%.
