Shengda Trade Economics and Management College, a full-time college of higher learning, was ratified by the State Education Commission on June 21, 1994, and jointly established by Guangxing Culture and Education Fund (with Dr. Wang Guangya as president) and Zhengzhou University. Since April 2011, Shengda became independent from its mother college, Zhengzhou University.

Shengda College is located in the developing area of Xinzheng, Zhengzhou City, near Expressway G107. The campus covers an area of 730,000 square meters with a building area of more than 370,000 square meters.Over 40 buildings have architectural styles that blend oriental and western influences. At present, there are nearly 16,000 enrollees.

The institute is part of an eventual Shengda University, for which preparations are being made. Shengda College consists of eight departments and three divisions: Department of Marketing, Department of International Economics & Trade, Department Business Administration, Department of Accounting, Department of Foreign Language & Literature, Department of Information Management, Department of Chinese Literature & Law, Department of Fine Arts and Division of English for Non-Majors, Division of General Education, and Division of Physical Education. There are 43 laboratories in the college including computer labs, audio-visual rooms, multimedia rooms and international trade practice rooms.

The college offers the following 18 majors for 4-year students and 4 majors for 3-year students: Business English, English Education, Interpretation, Business Japanese, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Tourism Management, Accounting, Auditing, Computerized Accounting, Joint Venture Accounting, Financial Management, Information Management and Information Systems, Computer Science and Technology, Computer Network, International Trade, Finance, Marketing, E-Commerce, Advertising, Chinese Language and Literature, Law, Contemporary Secretary and Public Relations.

The college devotes great attention to ideological and political education while stressing hands-on capabilities and skills. The motto of Shengda College is “Industry, Thrift, Independence and Self-reliance”; the spirit of Shengda College is “Patriotism, Love of school, Serenity, Hard work, Politeness and Tidiness”. The students are not only taught to master modern science and technology, but also how to conduct themselves in society. The college adopts a systematic administration with quantitative evaluation emphasizing strict administration, warm-heartedness and patient teaching to foster highly-qualified graduates for building modern society.

The college attaches great importance to foreign exchanges. It has established sister school relationship with Northwood University and Buena Vista in U.S.A and Kingxi University in South Korea and has regular educational and cultural exchanges with them.
