Shengda Held the First Student Opening Ceremony of the China-Ireland Cooperative Education Project

On October 19, the opening ceremony for the first class of Zhengzhou Shengda University of Economics Business and Management and Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT) China-Ireland Joint Education Program was held in the International Conference Center of the Administration Building. Leaders and teacher representatives of the two universities attended the ceremony. Students of the first China-Ireland cooperation education class also attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was co-organized by the Business Department and the International Office .

On behalf of the school, Professor Yimin Wu, the Vice President and Provost of Shengda began the ceremony with a warm welcome to all freshmen. He expressed his gratitude for the support and trust of DKIT. He pointed out that this opening ceremony opened up a new chapter in Shengda’s Sino-foreign cooperation, which strengthens our school’s ability to offer distinctive majors and cultivate talent with a global perspective. In his conclusion, Wu expressed great hope that the first class of students would be optimistic and pragmatic, be grateful and have the courage to take responsibility.

Dr. Sheila Flanagan, the vice president of DKIT, attended the ceremony online. She gave a basic overview of DKIT, including the geographical location, school environment, structure of majors, teaching staff, academic certification, etc. Dr. Sheila Flanagan pointed out that the education of DKIT is recognized among the most advanced in Ireland, and the school conducts in-depth professional reviews every five years to ensure that the curriculum continues to be above par. In addition, She pointed out that the school places high priority on the faculty and has a large number of high-level doctoral advisors, which are available to supervise students whether they are undergraduate freshman or doctoral candidates.

Ms. Maire Gallen, director of International Department of DKIT attended the ceremony online. She introduced the China-Ireland program. DKIT will provide students with international courses in the next three years. Students not only can learn professional knowledge through this program, but also visit to the campus to learn. She sincerely welcomed students to their beautiful campus in beautiful Ireland.

Mr. Li Zihao, the Chinese representative of DKIT , introduced Ireland, this project’s curriculum, tuition, scholarship requirements, employment opportunities, etc. He pointed out that DKIT has a 50 year history of establishing schools. The school’s student body is composed of 10% international students. After the introduction, Mr. Li presented the DKIT pre-admission acceptance letter to 8 student representatives.

Finally, Pengfei Bai , the vice dean of the Business Department, admonished the students to cherish the hard-won international learning platform, cherish the hard-won international exchange and learning opportunities, and keep in mind the“diligence, frugality, simplicity and self-reliance”of the Shengda School motto. They should carry with them the Shengda spirit of“love for country, love for school, thoughtful learning, courteous and tidy”, and last but not least be a Shengda student with an international perspective.
