On May 19, a delegation from the Hami Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League and Hami Vocational & Technical College, as part of the “Pomegranate Seeds Motherland Tour” program, visited our university for exchange and interaction. Chairman Wang Xinqi, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President Zhang Jin’an, Dengfeng Campus Party Working Committee Secretary Shen Dingjun, along with directors of relevant functional departments including the Board Office, President’s Office, Party Committee Office, Party Committee Propaganda Department, Party Committee United Front Work Department, Media Convergence Center, and University Youth League Committee, as well as faculty and student representatives, warmly received the guests. The visit featured thematic exchanges, cultural performances, and an exhibition of Hami’s distinctive characteristics.

Accompanied by Secretary Shen Dingjun and directors of relevant functional departments, the delegation toured the practical training building, the new library, and the university history museum to gain an in-depth understanding of our university’s development journey and educational achievements.

During the thematic exchange session, representatives from both sides watched promotional videos of Hami and our university. Chairman Wang Xinqi delivered a welcome speech, expressing his warm greetings to the delegation. He introduced the university’s educational achievements, recalled its historical connections with Xinjiang, and highlighted efforts to support Xinjiang’s development through initiatives such as public welfare activities, signed cooperation agreements, expanded student enrollment, and encouragement for graduates to work in Xinjiang. He expressed hope for sustained communication, exchange, and interaction in the future.

Liu Wancong, Deputy Secretary of the Hami Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, expressed gratitude to the hosts for their warm reception and hoped to establish a regular exchange mechanism between the youth leagues of the two institutions, expanding cooperation in areas such as social practice. Hami university students Gulijackremu and Li Yiming delivered reports titled “Strengthening the Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation and Unfolding a New Picture of Ethnic Unity” and “Writing a Chapter of Unity and Collaboration,” respectively, inspiring students to consciously uphold the unity and harmony of the Chinese national family.

At the “Yu-Ha Harmony, Youth Dancing Together” cultural performance, the opening dance Gathering Together  by faculty and students from the College of Art ignited the atmosphere. Songs This Is Xinjiang and Hometown by Alixier and Aizimaiti allowed the audience to experience the unique charm of Xinjiang and rekindle their attachment to their hometown. The songs *Until the End of the World and Come Back, Youth performed by students from the College of Art reunited young students with their passionate selves through music. Dances Blazing Splendor, Hot Dance Youth, and Pomegranate Seeds vividly conveyed cross-ethnic friendships. Through song and dance, students from both institutions depicted the profound bond between Henan and Hami, writing a moving chapter of ethnic unity.

During the Hami characteristic exhibition, participants enjoyed Xinjiang’s specialty foods, tried on traditional ethnic clothing, viewed Hami’s cultural and tourism promotional materials, and joined Hami students in singing and dancing. Many students participated, checked in, and took photos.

After the exchange activities, faculty and students from both sides expressed that the “Pomegranate Seeds Motherland Tour” not only promoted cultural integration between Henan and Hami but also allowed them to experience a rich cultural heritage. Moving forward, the university will actively encourage young students to engage in external learning and exchanges, strengthen the sense of community for the Chinese nation, demonstrate the social responsibility of our institution, enhance our university’s reputation, and contribute to cultural and youth exchanges between Henan and Xinjiang.
