Feng Xie, an accounting graduate from Shengda College, was chosen to be one of “Henan’s Top Ten Newsworthy Personalities in Education”. Feng made news in September 2010 when she rescued a 12 year old boy’s life, but inadvertently, lost hers. The news quickly spread throughout Shengda and many students could be seen holding copies of articles retelling her heroic deed. A search for “Feng Xie” on Baidu News reveals at least 200 articles from websites based throughout China.

This is the fourth annual ballot co-sponsored by the Educational Times, Zhengzhou Educational TV, Henan People's Educational Broadcasting Station and Sina Henan. Voters have among 20 nominees to choose from and can select up to 10 names. The event aims to demonstrate the plain, earnest, committed and sublime characteristics of those in Henan’s educational field. Meanwhile, it also intends to promote the spirit of “great pursuit in commonness, great passion in calmness and great responsibility in tepidness”. The ballot acts as a guide to encourage devotedness toward the educational field and, in turn, contribute to the rise and prosperity of Henan.
