On May 19th, 2011, the English Association’s 15thAnniversary was celebrated in Shengda’s Siyuan Hall. The evening party was sponsored by the English Teaching Department and assisted by the English Association of Shengda College. Xu Jile, Deputy Mayor of Longhu, Ding Jianmin, Regional Sales Manager of CASIC, Zhang Jinan, Vice-President of Shengda College, and deans from several departments as well as about 1500 students attended the party.
Before the performance, Vice-President Zhang gave a speech about English education and congratulated the English Association on its excellent work in the past years. Then, students from the Arts Department performed a dancecalledI, My, Me, Mineto begin the party. Afterwards, a stage-play calledThe Story of Our English Teacher and Us,prepared by Wu Juanjuan and performed by freshmen from the International Trade Department, portrayed the harmony of teacher-student relationships and moved everyone. Later, with their pure accent, six young teachers from the English Teaching Department recited the poemLove and Friendshipin Chinese and English, which brought the house down. Later, another stage playIf You Are the Two,named after a popular blind-dating TV show in China, brought the party to the its climax. After that, the Indian belly dance showed the energy of the young girls. The movies called Little Lion King and Vampire Diaries showed the performers’ excellent pronunciation. Then, a play calledThe New Legend of White Snakecontinuously provoked laughter through humorous novel dialog. Besides, the performances of three songs were also wonderful. The last performance was the chorus ofWe Are the World,which carried forward the theme of love and peace. Also, a game calledThe Sevenand a raffle were played during the party.
The evening party showed the lively English environment in Shengda College and energetic spirits of the students here.
