On May 8th, 2011, Shengda celebrated its independence in the Grand Theatre at the Henan Art Centre. The college’s founder, leading cadres at all levels, Taiwanese guests, leaders from brother institutions and student representatives attended the ceremony. Later that day, Shengda College also held a theatrical evening party to mark its opening. At the party, wonderful performances with various characteristics received warm applause.
Long Hu, home to Shengda College, was a much smaller and less populated town just eighteen years ago. At that time, Dr. Wang Guangya, an outstanding educationalist from Taiwan, returned to his home province of Henan to start a university. He chose to do it in this town with the corroboration of numerous Henan institutions.
Without the support of the Ministry of Education, the Henan Provincial Government, the Education Department, the Zhengzhou municipal government and Zhengzhou University, Shengda Economics, Trade & Management College of Zhengzhou University would not have been founded. After years of development, Shengda College’s independence as a private undergraduate institution was approved in April of 2011.
Nowadays, when you step into Shengda, beauty and prosperity come into view. Undoubtedly, Shengda’s development is attached to the dedication of numerous groups and individuals, like Dr. Wang, who have contributed and continue to contribute toward the educational cause. People who are familiar with the foundation of Shengda know that, from original desolation to today’s prosperity –elegant buildings, advanced facilities, capable faculty and wonderful academic atmosphere, are the products of their painstaking work. Simply erecting marvelous buildings, however, did not make Shengda the bright pearl of the Central Plains and mark a pivotal advancement in the history of private education in Henan.
In order to achieve greater heights and provide better prospects for students after graduation, Shengda has expanded its school-enterprise partnerships. Student internships have been set up and an alumni association established. Also, a recently constructed building, housing the “Business Practices Centre”, will give college students more employment opportunities.
Shengda abounds with potential and continues to perform miracles every day. We, the students and faculty, believe and support its endeavor.
