Contract Information


1. How long is the school year? What period does the contract cover?

Each school year is from late August to early July and is divided into 2 semesters. There are two contract options available: one year (the full school year) or 6 months. Exceptions can be made for special cases. 

2. What are the working hours at Shengda?

The School is open Monday to Friday, with Saturday and Sunday off. Teaching can take place between the hours of 8:10a.m. and 6:00p.m. (in the Winter and Spring) or 6:30 p.m. (in the Autumn or Summer). The workday is divided into 2 hour shifts: 8:10 a.m. to 9:55a.m., 10:15a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 2:10p.m. to 4:00p.m. (or 2:40 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Autumn/Summer) and 4:10p.m. to 6:00p.m. (or 4:40p.m. to 6:30p.m. Autumn/Summer). Foreign Teachers work a minimum of 18 hours per week and are expected to have an additional 2 extra hours per week in English Corner. Non-teaching staff generally work from 8:00a.m. to 5:00/5:30p.m.

3. At the completion of the contract, can it be renewed?

Yes, contracts may be renewed for an additional term based on mutual agreement.

4. Is there a probationary period for new Teachers?

No.

5. How is salary established?

Salary assessments are based on educational qualifications and teaching experience.
